What is the Cathedral Of The Senses Project?
Cathedral Of The Senses is the long anticipated sequel to acclaimed author, Stephen Smoke's highly popular metaphysical mystery novel, Trick Of The Light. An accomplished novelist, screenwriter, musician, and businessman, Stephen Smoke has successfully navigated the worlds of art and commerce for many years. He is the author of seventeen novels, eight other non-fiction books, as well as several screenplays. He has been a magazine publisher, directed feature films, and is also an accomplished songwriter.
While working on his manuscript for Cathedral Of The Senses, Mr. Smoke was inspired to write a number of well-crafted songs based on characters, situations, events, and ideas found in this book. We at "The Cathedral Of The Senses Project" are presently in the process of recruiting talented artists from all musical genres who wish to participate in an exciting, innovative, wholly original undertaking.
A collection of high quality cover recordings of these Stephen Smoke songs will be assembled and released as a special compilation "Cathedral Of The Senses" musical album in conjunction with the publication of Cathedral Of The Senses, the book. The indie music label East Of Sideways Music, (www.eastofsideways.com), has been chosen by Mr. Smoke to screen the artists, chose the best tracks, and release these recordings worldwide.
How will musical artists benefit from their participation in "The Cathedral Of The Senses Project"?
If an artist's or band's recording(s) is/are chosen for inclusion into the "Cathedral Of The Senses Album," that artist or band will receive a recording contract with East Of Sideways Music for their recorded track or tracks, which will entitle them to receive a portion of the profits from all musical sales made in connection with our project. This will include a 50% profit split of all sales of digitally downloaded songs, which will be handled by The Orchard, the world's largest digital distributor of music. Our musical tracks will be available on over 50 of the most popular music download sites (including iTunes, E Music, Amazon MP3, Rhapsody, and Napster), in over 90 countries around the world. If audience demand is sufficient to warrant the pressing and marketing of CDs for sale, profit participation will also include revenue from the sales of these special compilation CDs, as explained in the East Of Sideways recording contract. Be aware that almost all of Stephen Smoke's previous novels have been optioned for film. We are extremely confident that this will also be the case with Cathedral Of The Senses. If Cathedral Of The Senses is optioned and produced as a feature film, we will make every effort to have the recordings from our "Cathedral Of The Senses Album" included in the movie's musical soundtrack. Of course, any artist who has recordings that appear in such a film will receive the appropriate monetary compensation along with the accompanying media recognition.
