My Pick-Up Truck
I still remember the day
My dad pulled up in a jet-black, turbo-charged pick-up truck
Oh yeah, uh-huh
She was my eighteenth birthday dream come true
She had plenty of good looks and a bad attitude
Yeah, that’s the day I fell in love with my pick-up truck
Ever since that day back in nineteen eighty-nine
Together we’ve both been through plenty of good times
In all these years a lot has changed
But there’s one thing that’s still the same
Thank God I still have my pick-up truck
She’s lightning fast, and her sound system rocks
She can tow ten tons ‘cause she’s strong as an ox
Oh yeah, uh-huh
Through four jobs, three dogs, and two kids
She’s been right there beside me through thick and thin
Yeah, I know I can depend on my pick-up truck
Ever since that day back in nineteen eighty-nine
Together we’ve both been through plenty of good times
In all these years a lot has changed
But there’s one thing that’s still the same
Thank God I still have my pick-up truck
I had my first date in her
Kissed my first girlfriend in her
Drove her to the church on my wedding day
She’s a member of the family, and she’s growing old just like me
But she ain't the same or changed
My son turned 18 just the other day and asked,
“Dad can I drive the old truck for my date?"
I said, "Take the keys and good luck, remember son to gas it up
And take good care of yourself and my pick-up truck"
Oh my pick-up truck, uh-huh
